Where's Crumb - December 2007
After a short West Coast and East Coast tour on the USA in November, Robert and Aline are back in France. Crumb wants to spend the second half of December and all of January and February working on the Genesis project without interruption. If it means leaving his house and hiding out, so be it. He showed us copies of almost all of the 123 pages he has completed so far, and I can tell you Robert Crumb is at the height of his powers as an illustrator.
The German publishers Taschen plan to release their new book R. Crumb's Sex Obsessions in December, and we're working on purchasing some to sell on this site.

1 & Done: Sheer Poetry Print
This is #140/200 of the long sold out signed and numbered Sheer Poetry serigraph print. The last copy we sold on the site went for $1200. This one has a minor flaw, a small crease. It does not affect the presentation of the print but the crease is in the image area and I think that's worth taking into account (see the image shown below regarding this) so I have reduced the price to $900.00 for this one.
This is my personal copy, it will ship within 24 hours of the time the order is processed. If you have any questions about the print please contact me through the site and I'll be happy to answer your questions.

Woodman Spare that Tree!!
Signed & Numbered Etching
In the early to mid 1970's, Crumb did several front page illustrations for the Mendocino County, California newspaper Mendocino Grapevine. This one is from February, 1973. The type, the grapevine border, the illustration, it's all classic Crumb. We've brought the image back to life as a small, etched edition (50 prints). Our question is: did Crumb create the expression "treehugger" with this image? We don't know, and if anybody does, we'd love to hear from you.
On classic archival Hahnemühle paper, the image size is 7" x 9.5". Signed, numbered and dated by Crumb. Will be released November 30th. All Wildwood prints guaranteed for your complete satisfaction or you money back.

Zap #0 Signed and Numbered Serigraph Print by Robert Crumb
Everyone is probably aware that Crumb drew this famous cover first before Zap #1, even though Zap #1 was published and sold before Zap #0. But in many ways, it's this image which is associated with Crumb's plunge into (and pioneering) underground comics. Perhaps to fully understand and connect with this image, you had to have been there. Here's what Crumb has to say about Zap #0, taken from the Certificate of Authenticity that accompanies each print:
"It was Rick Griffin who thought of calling this one number 'Zero'. We were then in the process of putting together Zap Comix #2, that is, me, Rick Griffin, Victor Moscoso and Clay Wilson, in the summer of '68. I was 25 years old, going on 26. Zap Comix #1 had been out, in print, since February of that year. I had finished drawing number "Zero" before #1, but the original artwork, all 24 pages, had been absconded, and I didn't see it again until ten years later, when I had it in my hands briefly before it was again absconded. Fortunately, I had made xerox copies of all the artwork and it was from these xeroxes that all subsequent printings of this artwork originated, except the cover. I wasn't happy with the cover, and redrew it, using basically the same idea and logo with modifications.
Obviously this cover was very LSD-inspired. At the time I drew it, late summer or early fall of 1967, I was taking LSD fairly frequently. Not as frequently as some people, but, say once every six weeks or so—often enough to be convinced that psychedelic drugs were a short-cut to enlightenment. I would not listen to anyone who said differently, because I knew! I'd taken the trips! I'd been there! These days, I'm not so sure. The verdict's not in. One thing is obvious here: this cover is a reflection of the times; it's 1967; a young cartoonist is jacked up out of his mind on drugs and thinking it's great stuff."
The edition is 110 prints. The dimension of the artwork is 15" x 19.5". The Rives BFK archival cream paper it's printed on is 22 x 30 inches. All prints are sold with our guarantee for your complete satisfaction or your money back.
This edition is on sale now and begins shipping on November 14, 2007.

American Splendor Presents Bob & Harv's Comics Serigraph Print Signed & Numbered by Robert Crumb & Harvey Pekar
Wildwood Serigraphs is proud to release this 170 print serigraph edition signed by both Robert Crumb and Harvey Pekar. The image size is 14.5" by 20". BFK Rives cream archival paper size 22" by 30". Throughout most of the 1970's, Crumb illustrated many stories written and published by Harvey Pekar (released in his American Splendor comic book). These stories were collected and later published as a book in the mid-1990's, with this image as its cover. Robert reiterates:
"As plainly stated by Harvey on the cover, this book was his idea, an attempt to cash in on the flurry of media attention I was getting in the mid-1990's because of the documentary film "Crumb," by Terry Zwigoff. This book was a compilation of all the stories that Harvey and I had collaborated on since the early '70's. It sold modestly well over the years, and thanks to the impeccable honesty of the small, independent publisher, we each still receive a small royalty check every year!"
-Robert Crumb
Harvey Pekar had this to write on the Certificate of Authenticity, which accompanies each print:
"Robert Crumb is not only a great artist but has had a tremendously positive effect on my work. If not for his support, I’d probably wouldn’t have gotten into writing comics. It’s not generally realized what a fine guy he is; he constantly helps people as a matter of course."
-Harvey Pekar
