Mr. Natural Does the Dishes Giclée plus more new R. Crumb Products

Mr. Natural Does the Dishes Giclée

This image was taken from the inside cover of the Mr. Natural #2 comic book (1971). It was originally in black and white, but colored by Crumb specifically for a screen print edition released in 2011. This giclée edition is based upon that screen print edition as it's the "official" Crumb color version. The paper used is 100% cotton rag white archival Somerset Velvet 255 gram paper. It's a treated paper that has a very thin coat of a hard finish on top which keeps the ink from being absorbed into the paper. This makes the fine mist of ink sit on top of the paper so it can remain bright and vibrant for a long, long time-it's archival ink. There are 300 prints in this giclée edition. Each print measures 16" x 24". The image size is a little more than 11" x 17". It was designed so it could fit in almost any kitchen. We use Epson archival Ultrachrome inks. Each of the 300 prints is numbered in pencil.

R. Crumb's 3rd Eye T-Shirt

Crumb modified this illustration that he colored for the serigraph edition 11 years ago. He drew the "sunburst" design specifically for this t-shirt, which is a 100% ring spun cotton New Level t-shirt. It's a Light Military Green color with a luxurious soft feel. You know you love it!

Kafka Paperback

This soft-cover book, compiled by Zane Mairowitz and illustrated by R. Crumb, has been published three times. The first time, in 1993, as part of a "Beginners" series of books. But the publisher took off with the profits and R Crumb's original artwork for the book. It was published again in 2005 by iBooks Graphic Novel. The third time is by Fantagraphics, and this is the 7th printing of that edition. It has had three different covers, the first being Crumb's water color portrait of Kafka. There are over 100 illustrations in this book by Crumb. The softcover book has 176 pages and measures 6 1/4 x 8 1/2 inches big.

R. Crumb's Weirdo Card Set

This box of R. Crumb's Weirdo Card Set is a collection of all of Crumb's Weirdo covers he illustrated between 1981 and 1993, and even some unpublished covers as well. There were a total of 27 issues published, so there are some images which the public has never seen as they were never published. On the back of each card features bios of contributors to the magazine and some odd facts about the inner the magazine. R. Crumb's Weirdo Card Set is identical in format to R. Crumb’s other three boxed card sets: Heroes of the Blues, Early Jazz Greats and Pioneers of Country Music, all from Denis Kitchen Publishing, which we also carry on this site. The Weirdo card sets contain 40 trading cards (+ 3 bonus cards) in a nifty 3” x 4” x 7/8” box.

Announcing R. Crumb's 2020 Self-Portrait Etching

RCrumb.com and Crumb Etchings announce the release of R. Crumb's 2020 self-portrait

In June of 2020, Crumb finished his fantastic self-portrait illustration and sent the artwork to Alex Wood soon after. Alex converted the artwork onto film with which he created a zinc plate to print the edition. The white Hahnemuhle paper is 12.5" x 16." The embossed area is 8.5" x 11." The image size is 10" x 7.5."

There are 60 prints in this edition, with 7 Artist Proofs (which are Crumb's and not for sale) and 3 Printer Proofs. In September the edition was mailed to France to be signed by Crumb. After signing the edition, he sent them back and they were received in early October. We're releasing these in mid-November to facilitate framing the print for Christmas if they're to be given as a present. The release date is November 16th but we are now taking orders.

Each print is screen printed with the R. Crumb Etchings printing chop in the lower left corner. Each print is numbered, signed and dated by R. Crumb in pencil. And each print comes with our guarantee for your complete satisfaction.

New Full-Color Janis Joplin Giclée Edition

New Full-Color Janis Joplin Giclée Edition

Crumb first drew a pen and ink cartoon/portrait of Janis Joplin in 1969. This is not that portrait! Almost 30 years later, Crumb drew another portrait of Janis (in the same pose and with the same background) which is this portrait.  We released this portrait as an etching in 2008. In 2019, Crumb colored the portrait for a screen printer in Europe who produced an edition of 120 Serigraphs of this image. With slight variations, we're now offering Crumb's colored version of his portrait of Janis Joplin with a 300 print giclée edition.

The Somerset Velvet archival paper is 17" x 24," the image is 13" x 17." The edition is printed with Epson Ultrachrome archival inks.

The Estate of Janis Joplin has, in lieu of payment, the rights to the first 50 prints of this edition, so please don't ask for any low numbers, because we don't have any! However, we do guarantee your complete satisfaction with your Janis Joplin print or your money back.

R Crumb’s 2020 Anti-Trump T-Shirts

Announcing the release of Crumb’s new 2020 Anti-Trump t-shirt line, just in time for the upcoming election.

We have FIVE new and revised designs offered on six different color t-shirts.

Release Date: August 31st, 2020

KICK TRUMP OUT
Fifty years after Crumb created his comic book Mr. Natural #1, he’s transforming that cover into a political statement: Don’t mess with the Natch! Printed on a Next Level Faded Military Green t-shirt which is 100% combed ring-spun cotton.
$20

WANTED BY THE FBI (Red)
This t-shirt is a parody of President Trump. He’s not really wanted by the FBI. But if he loses the election and no longer has the Presidential Office to protect him, he might be! So this comical shirt may also be prophetic. This two color design is printed on a red BellaCanvas 100% combed ring-spun cotton t-shirt.
$20

WANTED BY THE FBI (Blue)
This design looks great on red, but some people don’t wear dark red. So this version is for the True Blue! This two color design is printed on a “Cool” blue Next Level 100% combed ring-spun cotton t-shirt.
$20

NOT AGAIN
This shirt was originally released as “Oh God” and featured Crumb sitting in the kitchen the morning after the last election (November 9th, 2016). This election, Robert created a new masthead “Not Again” and placed it over the illustration as our new mantra. This two color design is printed on an olive green BellaCanvas 100% combed ring-spun cotton t-shirt.
$20

TRUMPO THE CLOWN (2020 Edition)
Not only has Trump made 18,000 false or misleading claims in 1,170 days, but his reversals are mind-boggling! So alarming, Trump inspired Crumb to revise the Trumpo the Clown t-shirt. And this is the NEW, revised version–complete with references to his turnaround on coronavirus! The shirt is printed on a 100% combed ring-spun cotton Canvas t-shirt. The shirt color is called Soft Cream.
$20

WOMEN WHO VOTE FOR TRUMP
This six color design is printed on Natural Canvas 100% cotton ultra-fine combed cotton t-shirts that have a very soft feel. These shirts are actually more expensive than the Gildan heavyweight t-shirts, because of the exceptionally fine knit. The shirts are screen printed, NOT transferred, so they'll last a long time, and not fade, crack or peel. We guarantee your satisfaction with the quality of shirt and printing.

2020 Summer Sale R Crumb Prints

Each summer I sell prints from my personal print collection, or prints acquired in trades. All of these prints are from editions that are now sold out. They're in mint condition and have been stored in a flat file where they have never been exposed to light. I highly recommend using UV protected glass if you're going to buy and frame any of these prints.

-- Alexander Wood, Printer

BB King
This serigraph is part of a 245 print edition released in 2002. Using 30 colors, it turned out very nicely. The image size is 17” x  14”. The cream paper size is 25” x 22”. This is print number #18/245. However, I do not, for some reason, have its Certificate of Authenticity. So this prints does NOT have its cert. But, considering that Hypergallery in London is selling a print from this same edition for 6,000 pounds, I think $1100 is a fair price without its cert. Mint condition, never has seen the light of day.
$1100

Heroes of the Blues Serigraph #98/150
This serigraph print is print number #98 of 150. Substantially more than a reproduction of the original Heroes of the Blues trading cards, this remastered edition consists of re-scanned, color-stripped B&W images that have been retouched and newly color-coded by Crumb. The artist narrowed down the original field of 36 portraits to only 25, the better to display each at a greater size. The title logotype, too, is newly designed. Signed and numbered by Crumb. Musicians depicted: Ed Bell, William Moore, Skip James, Clifford Gibson, and Blind Willie Johnson (upper tier); Frank Stokes, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Memphis Minnie, Jaybird Coleman, and Blind Blake (2nd tier); Leroy Carr & Scrapper Blackwell, Peg-Leg Howell, Sleepy John Estes, Bo-Weavil Jackson, and Sam Collins (3rd tier); Mississippi John Hurt, Furry Lewis, Son House, Tommy Johnson, and Blind Gary Davis (4th tier); and Blind Willie McTell, Charlie Patton, Buddy Boy Hawkins, Barbecue Bob, and Big Bill Broonzy (5th tier). Image area, 16.5" x 25.5". It's accompanied by its Certificate of Authenticity. It's also custom signed by Crumb as R. "Gramps" Crumb.
$850

Arcade Serigraph Print #112/120
This 120 print edition was printed and signed in 2005. It took a while to sell out but it remains a high point in our collection of editions. There were 23 colors and 21 screens used to create this edition. The registration and spit-fountains (a total of five blends were used in the edition!) work perfectly. I was also able to hold the best detail with 230 mesh/dpi dither output of the films I used–the perfect combination. I think, as a printer, this is one of the best editions I've printed. The image size is 13" x 18.5". The cream paper size is 20" x 26". Comes with its cert, written by Crumb and signed by both Jesse and Alex. Mint condition, has never seen the light of day. This is print #112/120. Nice sig by Crumb.
$700

Footsy Serigraph Print #180/200
Footsy is the first edition I printed and published with Crumb in 1994. I used almost 30 colors and 4 blends to convince Crumb we could create a really fantastic edition. There are 200 prints in the edition, and this is print number 180/200. There was no certificate created with this edition. And it was also before Crumb dated his serigraphs next to his signature, so it has only the print number and his signature. He also signed this in hard pencil in France, far away from me so I couldn't suggest he use a softer, darker pencil. So his signature is too faint for my taste, but it's there if you look closely. Whatever its limitations may be, I was always very happy with the way this edition turned out. The cream paper is 22: x 30". The image size is 18" x 25". Mint condition, stored flat, never has seen the light of day.

Fritz the Cat Serigraph Print #140/200
24 colors using 20 screens were used to print this edition in 2001. The edition sold out more than a decade ago. There are 200 prints in the edition. The white Rives BFK paper is 22" x 30". The image is 18" x 22.5". The certificate, which is signed by Jesse and Alex, was written by Robert. The print is in mint condition, stored flat. Numbered, signed and dated by Robert, this is print number 140/200.
$750

Mystic Funnies #1
Mystic Funnies #1 was released in 1998 as a 200 print edition. The image is 17.5” x 25”. The Rives BFK archival paper is 22” x 30”. 31 colors were used to print this edition. This is print number #190/200. It comes with its Certificate signed by both Jesse and Alex. Numbered, signed but not dated by Crumb. Crumb did not date his editions at that point. One of the last editions he signed but did not date. Natch and Flakey at their best.

Jellyroll Morton’s Voodoo Curse
This is sort of a rare print. This is from the Jelly Roll Morton serigraph edition we released in 2014. It was a 90 print edition, but 4 of those prints, the last four, are printed with only black ink–no color! This is print number #86/90, signed and numbered by Crumb. Comes with its own cert. The image is 12” x 11”. The archival white paper is 19” x 18”.

$400

Beloved Music Makers of Days Gone By Portfolio
Released in 1999, this portfolio contains three screen prints of Crumb portraits. The prints are enclosed in a printed portfolio case which is also screen printed. The writing and artwork was done by Crumb for both the portfolio case and Certificate of Authenticity. The prints are 13” x 16”.  It’s an edition of 200 and this is portfolio number #178. The Certificate is signed by both Jesse and Alex.  The three prints inside (Jack Teagarden-jazz; Memphis Minnie & Kansas City Joe-blues; The North Carolina Ramblers-country) are each signed, dated and numbered by Crumb. Mint condition.

$800

Race Car Driver

I printed this edition for Jesse (which he published) in 2004. It was an edition of 100. The archival cream paper is 22” x 15”. This is print number #44/100. There was no Certificate created for this edition. Numbered, signed and dated by Crumb.

$500

Some Cold Rainy Day

Some Cold Rainy Day was created as an album cover for one of Crumb’s old time music buddies. Alex Gold then had some of the images printed (giclee prints) for an edition, but I’m not sure they printed all of the 25 prints planned for the edition. This printed is numbered by Crumb as 3/25. It’s also signed and dated (2008) by Crumb. However, Crumb used such a hard pencil, it’s difficult to read his handwriting or signature. No cert was issued, but a nice little piece for your collection.

$400

Zap #0

Zap #0 was printed and released as a 110 print serigraph edition in 2007. There were also 11 artist proofs and 3 printer proofs. This an artist proof I’m selling for a friend of Crumb’s. He had given it to her and now she wants to cash it in. It’s in mint condition, never been matted or framed. It’s A.P. IV/XI (4/11). The image is 15” x 21”. The archival paper is 22” x 30”. There were 14 colors used to create this edition. Numbered, signed and dated by Crumb. It comes with its Certificate of Authenticity signed by Alex.

$750

Dale Steinberger

There are 200 prints in this edition, with 17 Artist Proofs and 4 Printer Proofs. This print is from my collection of printer's proofs. It's numbered 1/4.  The edition was released in 2004. The cream Rives BFK paper is 22" x 30". The image size is 14" x 19". The certificate, written by Crumb, is signed by both Jesse Crumb and myself. Nice blend in the sky. Mint condition, stored flat, never has seen the light of day (except when it was photographed!).

Keep on Truckin’

In 2017, we released Keep on Truckin’ as a 95 print serigraph edition and it sold out very quickly. It was printed with 13 colors using 12 screens. The image size is 19" by almost 12". Each serigraph is numbered, signed and dated by Crumb in pencil.  This is print #43/95. Comes with its Certificate of Authenticity written by Crumb. It also has a customized signature reading: R. "Christ Almighty, What Next" Crumb.

$900

Monica Delivers the Pizza

There are 65 etchings in this “Monica Delivers the Pizza” edition.  This is print #61/65.  Released in 2006,  it sold out very quickly. The paper is 11” x 13”. The image size is 6.5” x 8”. Numbered, signed and dated by Crumb. These are difficult for me to find.

$875

Work On It

This etching was released in 2018 as an edition of 40. This is print number 35/40.  This is one of Crumb's more popular etching editions, so it’s hard to find. The paper is 10” x 12”. The image is 5” x 5.5”. Numbered, signed and dated by Crumb. I try to wrap my head around the whole thing, but I’m as confused and baffled as Flakey. Love this image!

The image size is 14" x 18.5". There were 18 colors used to print the edition. Numbered, signed and dated by Crumb. This is print number #194/200. New Limited Edition Print Celebrating The 50th Anniversary of Crumb's Mr. Natural #1 Comic Book

New Limited Edition Print Celebrating The 50th Anniversary of Crumb's Mr. Natural #1 Comic Book

In celebration of its 50th Anniversary, Wildwood Serigraphs and rcrumb.com announce the release of Crumb's serigraph edition Mr. Natural #1.

Crumb drew and published his first Mr. Natural comic book in 1970. 50 years later we're releasing that cover as our new edition with slight revisions per R.C's request. The yellow explosion from Mr. Natural's shoe as he's kicking Flakey Foont was originally filled with yellow, which had always bothered Crumb. By his instruction, it's now changed to white. The masthead was initially some kind of dark blue which Crumb requested we change to a "blood red." You can learn more about the edition, Crumb's color selection and the way we printed it on the blog section of the website.

The edition is 90 prints using Rives BFK 280 gram archival paper. The paper is 18" x 25." It's a 13 color edition. The image is 13" x 18.5." Each print is numbered, signed and dated by Crumb. Each print also comes with its own certificate of authenticity, which was written by Crumb. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
Release date: Wednesday, June 24th.

New Line of Crumb T-Shirts

We're releasing a new line of t-shirts called Crumb Subtle-T's. It's for all of us who don't want to wear anything printed on the front of our t-shirts, so we can feel more comfortable in our 100% Ultra-cotton t-shirts. We're not promoting anything, we've got nothing to say, nothing to prove, nothing to promote... except maybe, very subtly, we might want to say, "Natch is the greatest!" Or "Anyone who's well-adjusted is sick!" (taken from Crumb's Modern Funnies strip, 1977). These images are printed only on the left-sleeve to subtly state your enjoyment of Crumb's genius. It's fun, it's understated, it's comfortable, it's subtle and it's summer, so we're making them available to you now.

We're offering designs now with two more designs to soon follow. I'm open to suggestions for new sleeve print designs.

The Mr. Natural "I Am the Greatest!" is on the 100% Ultracotton heavyweight Gildan shirt in the Sand color.
The "Anyone Who's Well-Adjusted is Sick!" t-shirt is on the 100% Ultracotton heavyweight Gildan shirt in the Indigo color. Sizes are in Small through 2XL.

R. Crumb's Limited Edition Signed Bettie Page Etching

RCrumb.com and Crumb Etchings announce the release of R. Crumb's signed and limited edition etching entitled Bettie Page.

In the early part of 2019, Crumb drew this illustration of Bettie Page with the possibility of an etching edition in mind. He sent the artwork to me in the late summer, and I enthusiastically converted the artwork onto film with which we created a zinc plate to print the edition. The white Hahnemuhle paper is 13" x 16.5." The embossed area is 9" x 12." The image size is 8" x 11." There are 50 prints in this edition, with 6 Artist Proofs (which are Crumb's and not mine to sell) and 3 Printer Proofs. I mailed the edition to be signed by Crumb in December. After signing the edition, he returned them to me and I received them late January.

The edition will be released on Friday, February 7th.

MODERN WORLD FUNNIES Giclée Print

RCrumb.com announces the new giclée release:

MODERN WORLD FUNNIES

Robert created this strip for the back of the Mr. Natural #3 comic book (originally printed by Kitchen Sink, 1977). It's an interesting strip because it portrays two different points of view from one very talented mind. On one hand, Robert is well aware of the advantages of positive thinking (and he was obviously well-versed in the lingo of the "healthy and positive" therapy gaining momentum at that time). On the other hand, we have R. Crumb, the critical thinker. The result is a hilarious strip, with great lines like "Anybody who is well-adjusted is sick!" and "It's America that needs to be changed, not me!" Just as relevant today as it was when he created this.

The 17" x 24" paper used is Somerset Velvet 255 gram archival paper. The image is 13" x 19," printed with archival Epson Ultrachrome inks. Release date: January 21st (MLK Holiday on the 20th).
$80

Also, I'm selling my last box of Weirdo Comic Magazines sent to me by Jesse long ago. There are only about 4 or 5 comics per issue, sometimes less. All the comics are in mint condition and never been read. They range from $8 to $10 each. You can find them at this link: Comics Page
